An 84 mile long distance footpath and original raison d’être for this website, Hadrian’s Wall path is a truly spectacular experience to any avid walker or for anybody who just loves nature and history! This path runs from east coast Wallsend to west coast Bowness-on-Solway. Most of the path is relatively flat, the highest point being only 345m, for the majority of its length it runs alongside the famous Roman wall. It is one of the UK’s most popular walking routes for long distance walks and historic scenery. A highly experience walker could probably accomplish this route’s walk in around 6 days, somebody less experienced however, should plan to take longer as well as contingency time for visiting the fabulous attractions and sites along the way!
The path is very well signposted and in the summer months you will see many other walkers adventuring along the wall! The section between Chollerford and Walton is the most wild and isn’t near much of civilization, but other than that you will always be near local towns with shops and facilities should your supplies run dry! Our guide and website here at SightVisit is packed with information you need for walking this route and area, you will need the very best in accommodation from nearby towns, pubs and B&B’s, after all, at the end of a day of walking this trail, you have earned a drink or three!
